In the galleries, you'll find impressionistic images created with single, double and multiple exposures. The double exposure images are called Orton Imagery and the technique is named for noted Canadian photographer Michael Orton. The single and multiple exposure images are called photoimpressionism. I first learned about this technique in a book called Photoimpressionism and the Subjective Image by highly regarded Canadian photographers Freeman Patterson and Andre Gallant.
If you'd like to learn more about these techniques, follow the links to the Tutorials section where there are explanations of how to create these types of images using both film and digital methods.
I hope you enjoy the images in the Galleries. Photos in the Galleries will be updated on a regular basis so please come back in the future and see what's new.
I also welcome your feedback. Please feel free to get in touch with me via the Contact link at the bottom of any page on the site.
There is one other gallery on the site and it's the Lighthouse Gallery. It's separate from the others because it's going to become a mini-site within the main site over time.
A few years ago I began working on a long term project to photograph and document all of the remaining lighthouses in Canada. At some point, I hope to turn the photography and related research into a series of guidebooks for lighthouse enthusiasts who may want to learn more about or visit Canada's lighthouses. Proceeds from any lighthouse photograph sales will be turned back to local restoration and preservation groups.
Enjoy your visit.
